what is this piece?
The goal was to make a poster from the 1800s aesthetic. Doing research on the era and its many unique aspects of advertising, I chose a prevalent product of the time, cigarettes. Although the era wasn’t keen on including feminine figures, I chose to focus on this.

the process
I studied Wild Woodbine cigarettes’ previous ads at the time, the style from the era, and took that into my final piece. I included headlines and subhead that were used in real 1800s Wild Woodbine advertisements. Along with my research I decided to include filigree, imagery, colors and textures that were an homage to the era.
